Personally, I think the first one did a better job of catching my eye. The light just seems right, and I love the ripples in the water.

I agree totally. The first picture has enough light and color, the second one seems too dark and perhaps even a bit dismal. The first picture has those wonderful ripples in the water and the silhouetted plants make a nice contrast. I love this picture!

i'm not sure
they are both very beautiful shots, but they are landscapes and the give a horizontal feeling to them which is nice until your eyes get dragged down by the cattails. so your eyes go from looking at everything focusing right on the cattails and going straight to the bottom of the image then back to the sunset following the ripples then back throught it again.
great colors, comps and lighting but just feel a bit busy, i'm not sure, just could be me.
nice work, everyone knows how much i love shots like these.

I really like the first image
light and sky colours are better than second image
try taking it without that gass strands in between

I really like the 1st shot, the colors and light are finely captured...the composition is well done also.

You should be able to combine them in photoshop, to get the best of both worlds.
