I am looking at buying this product for creating wedding DVDs/slide shows set to music for clients. Is ProShow producer really worth the extra $200.00?

If I can make a slide show like I do in LR set to simple music that will play on a TV from DVD for my client I think gold is all I need I think...right?

I "acquired" Proshow producer a while back. Don't let the word "PRO" in the name fool you. I think it's a piece of crap.

Even the david jay thing is better than procrap.

I bought Proshow gold and it seemed to do much of what I needed. But I quickly stopped using it when I picked up Showit Web.

Proshow can do some cool stuff, but it takes a lot longer to make a show than showit.

If you just want to create a slide show then Pro Show may not be the right product for you. We've used gold and upgraded to producer over a year ago. Although there are issues with it - sometimes crashes when creating a show with heavy use of video for example - it does the job, lots of flexibility, very active users group, etc.

I've had problems with it crashing.

Also maybe I'm just a newbie and don't know how to use the program, but the video window was very tiny. As opposed to showit's video window that is quite larger.

The slideshow interface looked like it had some quicktime skin. As opposed to showit there is no skin and it's very sleek and modern.

When the video finally loaded I was instantly greeted with a PRO SHOW logo and then the video played... That's bullsh!t to me, I don't want to endorse their product, I want to showcase mine!! That was really the last straw for me...

Adaptive - the proshow logo is removed once you pay for the software. The UI can be customised, my video window takes up about 1/2 the screen. No idea what you mean about a skin.

Proshow is a little fussy about the DVD burner you use, but I haven't heard many reports of it crashing. You can get around the DVD burner issue by creating an ISO file then burning that with nero or something similar.

Proshow Gold works great for what I. I make simple slideshows for each wedding, once I have 100 jpg files it takes me about 10 minutes to make a show (including music) and about 20 minutes for it to render. I do very simple shows.

ShowIt is a great program for web shows, but if you want to make DVDs you have to pay DJ for every DVD, they make it for you then ship it to you. That's slow and expensive, two disks costs the same as proshow (give or take).

Please send me a link to a sample video you've done with pro-show. I'm having a new site built and I have asked them to custom design me a way to do slide shows. Maybe I'll give proshow another go if your stuff looks good.

And I don't endorce showit either, but their stuff looks decent. It just bugs me that EVERYONE has it and it all looks the same.
There's no way to customize it I guess. Also I hate the fact that you have to have to BUY THE DVD FROM THEM... That's the main reason I looked into pro show.

If you're doing just web shows get ShowIt. If you're doing web and DVD get proshow. I only do DVDs so I don't have anything online. There are probably demos on their website, www.photodex.com . The DVD quality is good, not great, but the 1080p (mpeg4) quality's stunning.

I've been using the producer version for years and the nags screens are removable - you just have to remember to uncheck them before the render.

YMMV - It's never once crashed on me. I made shows with enough images to full up a DVD (4gb plus) - Working from RAW's - I generally have my images DVD ready ( already batched & resized in CS3 for output so the program doesn't have to render them).

I also create an disc image and can burn multiple DVD disc copies from within nero today or next year. Before burning I can hard proof the disc image by virtual mounting the disc image.

IMHO - ProShow Produces is the best of the best ;)

ProShow video streams of the DVD are good for web posting - I generally don't post to the web but I include the "stream" on a cd copy for clients.

Huh? I know it can do streaming flash shows, but it does it as a video file. ShowIt does it as jpgs it moves around, which is FAR more efficient. Video streams are pretty heavyweight. And streaming the same data as goes to the DVD is really bandwidth heavy.

Proshow can do web shows, but ShowIt is more efficient for it. There's a piece of software called "Show Transformer" that will convert a showit show to proshow so you can make a DVD, it does a good job. Best of both worlds that way.

Adaptive, I do not weddings but have used proshow gold for several years for sports dvds. Here is a link to one of mine:

I do not have a problem with any crashes, the proshow gold logo is editable on the title page. Your video window is also editable as is everything else. There is also a forum you can go to for help:
