Just bought A75 yesterday. My first digital camera. Worked fine for one day and now will only take indoor shots with the flash turned OFF. With the flash on all shots are way too dark! I have reset all settings to default, to no avail. Something seems to be out of sync. I have seen on other forums that others have had the same problem, but it does not seem to be too widespread. I got this camera because it seemed simple to operate and was highly rated. I just wanted a basic point and shoot type thing, that is why the "auto" function was appealing to me. For some reason, after only one day, I now have to monkey with the settings to get it to do what it did automatically yesterday. I am guessing that the "reset all defaults" function is not working properly and I don't know enough about the thing to know if it has reset everything properly. Any help would be appreciated. I am heading back for a refund if no one here has any notion what to do. I think I must have got a lemon since this thing gets rave reviews.

Thanks

With the flash on all shots are way too dark! So is the flash is not actaully lighting at all? Like its broken or is it working and just looking too dark?

pops off just like its supposed to, nice and bright. But preview images on the LCD are very dark and look the same when downloaded to the PC. With flash off, lighting is OK but subjects are blurry.

mine looks dark on the LCD screen too but then the picture looks good after it takes the picture. I mean like you cant see almost anything but the picture looks good after its taken. I dont know, finger is not over the flash?

Nope. Same result x 100 tries today, at least. I am convinced the electronics are buggered up on this one. Here is someone else who posted on a different forum with the exact same problem. There was no solution posted.

Hi,
I recently purchased the A75, at first the pictures taken in any mode had balanced exposure and crisp colours. Now the problem I am having is that the picture comes out extremely underexposed (almost black) using the flash in any mode. However, in manual, the pictures come out good with or without the flash.
I tried adjusting the exposure, restoring the camera defaults etc. but the problem remains the same. The camera takes good pictures in the other modes when the flash is off.
I don't know what is wrong, could someone please help me.

This is identical to my problem.

Hi Mike,
I too have the same problem using flash in A75. I has posted this problem on other forum. Below is a link to that forum.

Could this be done by reflashing the camera. There is an update for A75 on canon website but I am not able to download as my camera has already an updated firmware. Does any body knows where can I get the firmware.

BTW mike, is your problem fixed now? Please let us know what have you done.
