Went to Olalla, WA to watch people celebrate the new year by jumping into the Puget Sound.

Excellent shots of a bunch of nutbars. It completely left my mind to go into Vancouver for the polar bear swim and get photos. Damn!

Chris, Great shots of crazy people jumping off.:)

The way they seem to be jumping off in droves, I have to wonder if some of them didn't land right on top of some of the others already in the water?:eek:

I went a couple of years back in the ocean on March 5th, that's about as cold as it gets here in NH and I think that day it was about 15 F, with the water being substantially warmer (30 F). Regardless, it was amazing fun and I'd do it again if the opportunity came up.

I tell you what, I wouldn't jump in Puget Sound in the middle of (what the people who live there call) summer. It's damn cold then. I'm sure as heck not going to do it in the winter. Nice weather or not!!

But they are good captures!

you can tell the water is freezing by the look on the boys face in shot #3.

You got that right. This was my first chance to see this ritual. I've heard about it but have never gone. It was pretty fun to shoot. Would I jump in? I'm thinking about it.
;) Someone better get a good pic of it if I do though. :)
