Hey All,
Some of you may remember me from my first post here. I just got a new 20D and am looking to get started with it. What books are recommended? I am NOT looking for books that describe the basic physics of exposure (EVs, relationship between aperture, shutter-speed, ISO, etc...). I'm looking for the "next level" of books that describe things such as basic-to-intermediate lighting techniques, use of color, composition, etc. My emphasis is on lighting for now. What great books are on you shelf?

What kind of lighting, natural, flash, outdoor, studio ect. If your wanting to do some portraiture I highly recomend "Master Lighting Guide For Portrait Photographers" $29.99 at barns and noble.

The Photographers Handbook by John Hedgecoe

It is old, but it covers everything, good for a beginner/intermediate. Not a lighting specific book, though it covers it. This is probably geared to someone like you and probably a little further ahead. As far as I know, it is considered one of the "must have" books, based on the amount of times I have seen it suggested. I don't think I have seen any other book reccomended as much as this one.

Cheers

Check out "Learning to See Creatively" by Bryan Peterson. Great book. As a beginner, he's easy to understand, gives before & after examples of photos under various lighting conditions, and shows how to improve your composition with some very simple tips. I found it in my library, but wound up ordering it because I like to refer to it frequently.

There's a Sticky post at the top of this forum called "Photography Basics - Books & Links" - There are several "next level" books mentioned.
