I'm looking for a good RAW converter. I'm using Photoshop Elements and was looking for a converter that was not so crippled. I have tried to install Bibble Labs but I'm running Vista and it will not install.
Anyone have some names of ones they use?

DPP.
LightRoom.
What do you want to do that Elements won't let you?

Curves, adjusting RGB colors, etc. I do not handle that many images at one time so I do not think LightRoom is the right fit. I would go PS CS3 but I can not justify the price. I might go PS CS4 but that is not an option until it is released.

I have been using Rawshooter for a couple of years and like it, but I am a rank amateur so take that for what it is worth.

I REALLY like Raw Shooter Essentials; but that's because I read their documentation on how they intended the app to be used.
I just started playing with Raw Therapee; and so far I think it's okay... When I get more experienced with it I think I'll eventually switch to it.
New Hobby; what camera do you use?

Too bad Bibble doesn't work. I use it. I think it's the smartest RAW converter, but maybe v5 (which better come out soon or I will go on a rampage) will support Vista.
I HATED Raw Therapee on my computer. Crazy slow and color like ACR but worse, with weird sliders. Your mileage may vary though. Try EVERY converter you find that looks interesting, batch process a set of images in each one and then tweak them yourself.

I suppose you could dual boot Vista and Xp if you wanted to use Bibble now. I heard today that Microsoft will continue to support/update XP till 2014. I just takes a spare partition or drive... not to tough to setup.

FastStone Image Viewer - for all Windows incl Vista. I use PSE and open files for editing there from FSIV just by pressing E (that's all, no Ctrl or Alt or whatever, you just press E once you've set up PSE as your editor. And if you get a different program once you'vechanged to it once it stays there with the same shortcut. It is a great program.
Can view RAW at full screen or several size thumbnails, switch straight to editing program with one keystroke, do batch processing incl resize, add watermark, add frame, make adjustments, save as new file type all in one go. Great for converting batches for web pages, you can make them all uniform with one operation.
Not fast, but, hey, it's FREE!
