.......... from the weekend.

Just played about with a couple of these shots.
60mm macro used

This one is using manual settings but with fill-flash

This one Av mode, no flash - it has a rather pleasant soft edge to this that I rather liked

Re the settings, they arent the settings I would normally have used, I was just trying odd things out, but here is how I did them in case it helps, I will also put what I would normally have done.

The above shots:
#1 = Manual mode: Aperture F11, shutter speed 200s, ISO 200 and then using the pop up flash (I think I might have dialled in a negative 1/3rd flash exposure compensation, Im not sure).

#2 = Av mode: Aperture F5.6, ISO 200, shutter speed sets itself. No flash.

#3 = Are same settings as #1.

I would normally use the above Manual settings but with the external flash (580EX) attached to the hotshoe, the flash would have the Lumiquest Softbox attached to the head of the flash. I would then adjust the flash exposure compensation to the given situation and lighting conditions ie either dial in a minus or plus exposure compensation for the flash via the camera not the dial on the flash.
