I only have one comment. The volumes of posts do not justify a split.

Agree with KennyG, not enough volume for the split.

I'm not sure its quite ready yet either. As I admitted in the other thread, I have no complaints with the EOS section as it is.

I actually think there is. There are quite a few posts that get skipped over as they get lost among the more "popular" posts. I like the "EOS Cameras", "Lenses" and "Gear" ideas.

I also agree with Bob G and Kenny G. No need to split it up.

The split will not be done. I'll ask again next year.

The less things change today, the better chance I'll have tomorrow of remembering what happened yesterday.:o

Just a comment, I don't like forums with 25 diffrent forums that make it hard to see and look over. Even if the volume does come up, I would like to leave it.

I don't honestly think this forum has that many posts to justify a split. When threads drop to the second page in 5 hours or so, then a split is justified. Right now, I come back the next day and the same unanswered thread is on the front page. To me, all it does is cause you to do more looking.

As for people asking the same question, that is the point of a forum. I might find somewhat of an answer by searching, but new people always register and can add newer opinions or suggestions. I guarentee that 95% of all the new posts have been asked somewhere before.

As a moderator on other boards, the more you nitpick the more people leave.

I enjoy the variety that the current format provides. Always a surprise or curve, unpredictable, isn't that part of the fun?

I would rather have it the same, but Pekka, maybe you can make the descriptions to make them a little more specific.

Right now, we get questions about tripods in 2-3 different forums, same with books, studio etc etc. Which BTW, are not really EOS related.
If you make this forum lenses, bodies, and EOS accessories discussion only, then you can divert some of the traffic to talk about photography, cornering the pros, and post-processing.

Guys with G series and P&S cameras might find that information very helpful, but probably wont see it. I miss most of the discussion that goes on in the other two forums.

I can count eight different topics on the first page that technically don't belong there.

PR,

This forum IS for EOS Bodies, Lenses, flash and the complete EOS system,. allways has been.

When people post book questions here.. (unless it is an EOS book :) ) it's simply in the wrong forum :)

I'd say at least 50% of the posts in EOS that are in "the wrog place" start with the words, "I know this isn't the right place to post this,.. but.." ;)

The Oddballs are Tripods and Bags and CF cards.. however.. in essence.. they remain on topic here when the question asked is about a tripod for an EOS system,. or a CF card for a 1D etc....

So.. that becomes a toss up.

I know this isn't the right place to post this,.. but..

I've always liked that one

"I know i shouldnt have robbed the bank...but"

"Oh it's not a big deal, as long as you know it was wrong"

I think there is a presumption that people reading the EOS forum are the most experienced/knowledgeable members, and the quality of answers coming from that group is going to be better...

We see that a lot with some of the questions posted in 'Corner the Pros.'

Don't worry.....the moderators will keep it all straightened out.

Gotta concur that splitting would over-complicate matters, and I don't see how you can reliably separate lenses from bodies when a fair number of the questions about lens/body sharpness for instance end up talking about the lens, the camera settings used (including Basic/Creative modes), and appropriate post-processing.
