I have a question about inktanks. I know that there's a bundle available, for all 8 ink tanks...somewhere in the US $90-110 range. Anyone know of another solution? Please let me know.

Are you talking about bulk ink tanks? If so...I haven't been able to find them. You can buy the bundle or each individual tank from many different sources.

Yeah, ink tanks, as in bulk ink tanks. I figure buying the tanks individually is not so cost effective, as compared to buying a full set...but, then again, how long is the shelf life of unopened cartridges?

Anyone else with any info? Otherwise, I guess I'll just have to order the set of 8...at a discount.. Any idea how long the ink will last, without being opened, in the tank?

Have you found 8 cartridges of the same color at a discount?
I thought you were talking about bulk ink tanks, large tanks that you pour ink into.
The eight tank set that I know about has one of each color ink and each are standard sized cartridges.

You considered a continuous feed system?

Yeah, I checked the 'multi-color' pack, from Canon. I was looking at something along the lines of what spacemunkie recommended. So, thanks to both of you.
Anyone ever use that system? I just don't want to clog the ink spreaders/nozzles. Any reviews on this product?

Lyson have a good reputation for continuous feed systems and ink. Have a Google for them. InkRepublic are supposed to be decent too. I'm looking into one myself. Try here too:

Here is a thread about CIS: Click (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=430015)

For now, I've just ordered a replacement set of CLI-8 8pack, from Amazon for $69. I'll continue researching the CIS's, and hopefully will find someo decent reviews of others on the market.
Thanks for the link, Rene.

I buy cartridges for my Pixma Pro9000 as I need them. Mine eats up the magenta and cyan pretty quick, and the red, green, and yellow last forever. So even if I bought an 8 pack, I’d still need to buy the individual cartridges. I can pick them up for like $15 at Office Max or Staples, which isn’t too much more than the price you would get if buying an 8 pack.
Love the printer, btw, always gives me awesome results.

Yeah, I thought about that too...since it's those three colors that seem to have been consumed the most. At least now I'll have a backup for all other colors, and can replace just the colors that need to be replaced.
I don't print enough, I've determined, to be able to get a CIS yet...but, in the event that I do start doing some serious printing, then, I'll look into it further.

I know that there's a bundle available, for all 8 ink tanks...somewhere in the US $90-110 range.
I usually find better prices for this at Amazon. For example:
http://www.amazon.com/Canon-CLI-8-8-Color-Multipack-Tanks/dp/B000IBPD0S/
And the last time I ordered the price for buying it through Amazon (but shipped from and sold by Adorama) was actually less than the price on Adorama's own web site. Weirdness.
At any rate, my normal order is the 8-pack plus an extra tank of Photo Magenta. I won't actually need the Red or Green ink tanks in the 8-pack, but it's still cheaper than buying the other six ink tanks individually. For everything I've printed thus far, Photo Magenta is gone through twice as fast as anything else while Red and Green are seemingly not used at all.
the red, green, and yellow last forever
I've replaced the yellow ink tank twice I believe, whereas I'm using the red and green tanks that came with the printer... and they're both still being reported as full.

Wow, that's a pretty good price. I've haven't seen that 8-pack that cheap before. I've looked for that on Amazon before, and I think it was listed at like $90. Thanks for the link.
Maybe next time I have to refill the red or green I'll get the 8-pack.

Yeap, paid $69 bucks for the CLI-8 through amazon, that's what I did. Somehow, in some way, Amazon is affiliated with Adorama, I know it! This is why B&H prices NEVER show up on Amazon! EVER!
Oh well...whatever, should the investment be necessary in the near future I will just get a CI system.

I'm finding this to be the case on a number of printer items. Not just the ink, but also Canon 13x19 Photo Plus Glossy II paper is $16 for 20 sheets if you buy from Adorama through Amazon WITH free shipping - about $8 less than through Adorama direct. Weirdness indeed.

I'm finding that this printer consumes some serious ink. The more I print, I realize that it's only certain colors that are consumed, such as the PM, Cyan, Yellow, and Black. Red, Green, Magenta, and the last one don't get used all that much...but, it's a costly venture, each time.
Though, regardless of the cost of ink, I must say that the prints look pretty darn nice.
