I know this is off topic but since we have so many brilliant teckies in here I thought someone might be able to help. If not, mod please delete.
My P&S is a Panasonic DMC-LC33 which has the capability to record video clips, and it records as .mov files or in other words quicktime movies. I do not have the full version of Quicktime but was wondering is there any way to edit the quicktime movies themselves or a free way to convert them to mpeg files, so that I can try out a Pinnacle product or something like that. It's stupid to me to have to buy a file converting program AND a good editing program as well.
It feels strange to be using a apple program (Quicktime) on my pc. I am scared of conflicts.
The reason I want to do this is that I have slideshow program which can also have video clips in it, but I cannot edit the video with my slideshow program.

Also seen your reply to Wazza post.
Are you using Studio to capture from your camera (with recorded card in camera) cos if so Studio should do it on 'non dv capture'

Sam,
I am trying Pinnacle Studio Plus 9. I don't know if it's because it's a trial, but when I click on capture source it only says DV Camcorder ( which I do not have) , and does not have non dv capture option. This is driving me crazy. I have a regular camcorder but in order to connect it to my computer I have to buy a video capture device, (external, because I have no open drive bays); but that would be analog anyway and not digital (and therefore suck). I could buy a new DV camcorder but I have no firewire port on my computer either (stupid Dell CELERON---What were we THINKING??!!!). I could buy a new computer AND a new DV camcorder but that's too expensive. I suppose I could forget about it altogether and just stick to photography. I guess for now I'll just try to find a software program that accepts .mov files.
