I'm not a graphic designer or anything, but i have fun using textures and colors for these sign in books, they are pretty simple and basic, but my clients have been loving them despite the 'tackyness' they involve. I made this to match their water bottle label i created for them as well.

I had made it with no lines and a diff setup with the pics, but they said they wanted to have lines on it so I had to rearrange some pics so it's not totally how I envisioned, but I think it looks pretty good for a $60 sign in book for the couple.

Here is a previous book I made and had printed and the clients loved it. Just showing my work, not looking for critiques really, just sharing love and knowledge and what I myself do.

here is a link to that one: http://slantphoto.smugmug.com/gallery/4628766_z3pEX#287737025_SRSPS

I like it, well done! I think I would prefer it with lines too. There are some great shots in there.

I think it'll make for a cool book, they'll love it. My only suggestions would be that in your #7 spread, I think the mixing of b/w, color and a toned image might be a bit busy - maybe 2 of three styles would be more pleasing. Nice shots too, btw. I'm for 'no lines' myself, but oh well.

Cheers,
Phil

What a good idea! I have never seen that before. Great job!

Thanks guys, the reason for page 7 is the way it is, is I originally designed it with no lines in mind, and i had to end up adding lines and moving pics around to make them go with the lines better, and I was just lazy about grouping that set of photos, but I ended up liking it because of the way the colors are, from really colorful, to pink monotone, to greyscale, next to the light pink background really looks cool to me, but ymmv.

Thanks for the comments, I wasnt too happy with their pics when I first gave them to them - it was a weird couple to photograph. But After making this book and doing a bunch of photoshop tweaking, I'm much happier. Lightroom is great, but can only take the image so far. But I do like to Lightroom tweak everything before I give it to the client just because image matters.

This is also from my 3rd wedding, So I still have much more to learn!

I like the idea but where are you getting these printed and on what kind of paper/album. Would not work or look good on glossy photo paper...

I will either design & print for a $250 Sign in book that I print with Vision Art and their Matte paper.

OR I print them myself at the local print shop on 2400dpi digital presses on 16pt matte coated card stock, and then glue 2 pages together for a stiffer then regular stock book, and wire bound that I sell for $60-100. It's more work from me, but it costs me less (family's business) and is just labor, where the Vision Art book costs me a bit and no labor. Both yield happy clients so far. This happens to be a lower budget album. Fine tip sharpies work great on both!
