anybody know if theres compatibility issues with the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 EX APO IF HSM and the 300d?
I've heard they have problems with the 10d (incorrect focal lengths after 100mm?)

also help me make this decision...
canon 70-200mm F4
OR
the sigma 70-200mm f2.8

OH and how much of a difference is there between US and import lenses ( i know this has been talked about but give me a freebie)

These reviews might help.
Canon ($569) gets 4.9/5: http://www.photographyreview.com/pscLenses/35mm,Zoom/Canon/PRD_84503_3128crx.aspx
Sigma ($799) gets 4.5/5: http://www.photographyreview.com/pscLenses/35mm,Zoom/Sigma/PRD_83597_3128crx.aspx

The sigma weighs twice as much, which isn't unreasonable given the larger F. The Canon is universally loved, as far as i've read. Both review very well.

It's compatible to 300D. The issue may be the wrong focal length shown in the Exif file.

No problems here with 300D.

There is not much to choose between the two realy. Canon better at 70mm, Sigma at 135mm, about even at 200mm. Some say the Sigma is soft wide open, but I find it more than usable.

Tech review at http://www.photodo.com

The real choice between the 2 is the extra stop for a few extra bucks, for me it was worth it for some it's not, but you can't go far wrong with either lens.

I love mine, no issues.......cant beat the price for a 2.8......VERY sharp.....My buddy has the L IS ($1800) and I dont see the difference in the quality.

Love mine. Had a problem with exif data until I had a front focusing problem fixed. Exif and focus are now dead on. :)

I have a 10D and the sigma f2.8 lens. It's been pretty darn good. Regardless if it is a Canon, an f4 lens is too slow if you're planning on taking any action shots in mediocre lighting situations.
