Just got back from boat trip... Warning: gruesome pic inside

Hi all.. hope everyone had a happy and SAFE new years holiday.

Me, I went boating for 7 days. On the second day (28th Dec - first morning) of the trip, keen as mustard to get my new a85 underwater housing wet for the first time, I and a 'dive buddy' went to explore the wrecks that protected the achorage we had anchored at (Tangalooma anchorage on the western side of Moreton Island, in Brisbane's Moreton Bay, if you care to google :)).

Well, long story short, the 100 foot long vehicular ferry that visits the island came in whilst i was in the stern of one of the wrecks, it did not sound a horn and created a huge wake that , in the words of my dive buddy, "turned the wreck [I] was swimming over into a beach". In the mahem, i got cut...and bad.

Moral of the story: "Be Careful trying to get 'That' shot" :)

Ill post some more (nicer) pics from the trip as soon as I get them 'processed', if you know what i mean. Its late now, and looking at that shot made me woozy, im going to bed :)

Considering the depth of the cut, I am surprised you are not bleeding more. Did you get that stitched up?

I had a similar accident when swimming in a pretty desolate beach in India. This was an area that had many ancient temples. Some of the temples were built near the ocean between 1500-1900 years ago, and now have been swallowed up by the receding coastline. So you can like go swimming in the water and hit yourself up against old pillars and walls of the temple. They've even got statues underwater...cool looking.
In any case, someone produces a wake that I didn't see and when it hit me, it sloshed me back and forth on these temple pillons and basically dragged me across the jagged and broken rocks. I got cut up really bad.

This also happened to me in the Bahamas where I got cut up on sharp rocks near Freeport.
