After reading this article on the Rob Galbraith site, I just had to stir the pot one more time. Call it starting a bar fight, and walking out. Whatever.
So the gauntlet thrown down:
It is the photographer, and the camera is but a tiny part of the equation, if at all.

I'm simply blown away just thinking where the digital world was a mere 10 to 15 years ago. Blown away!!
Chime in - I'm especially interested in responses that still maintain it is the camera that makes the picture. I'm absolutely sure that we, as adults and photographers, can have an interesting dialog that does not degenerate into - well - non-adult, non-photographer rhetoric.
