Hey everybody.
Newbie here with some dust particles on the inside of the viewfinder/focus screen. Requesting advice as to what over the counter products or solutions are available to clean this. I've isolated the problem to it being dust on the viewfinder. Lens is fine, mirror is fine, sensor is fine, but i'm curious if i should call canon for a mail-in or over the counter solution. Also the dust looks like small dried up water droplets. Any advice on how to fix my baby.

If the dust is on the external surface of the viewfinder, then a cotton swab and some lens cleaner should do it fine. It is probably dried sweat or something. On the other hand, how do you know that the problem is not elsewhere?

The good news is that if the dust is on the viewfinder, it won't affect your images. It just gets a little distracting to the photographer's eye.

Dust is not on the external portion of the viewfinder. Sorry i wasn't specific. Dust is on the inside of the viewfinder and i can confirm that because the mirror is sparkling clean. Tryin' to use a blowbrush gently has made it even worse.

I think it is best to stay off the mirror.

If I can clean the sensor (using a cotton swab and a drop of lens cleaner), and if I can use the same to clean the external viewfinder piece, then I stop right there. That's about as far as I can go without screwing something up.
