I had an opportunity to shoot the Tige' Pro-Am Wakeboarding contest last weekend in Fairview Oregon. It was an awesome event and a lot of fun for my first watersports shoot: ) Some general C&C would be appreciate on these.
I would also like to point out that I cropped tight for a majority of these photos due to the fact that my target audience is a clothing company and a wakeboard company. And the majority of product shots I saw that companies where using involved just the rider in the air, with a crazy face, wearing their product doing a crazy trick. No wake or anything like that. I understand that for the majority of action sports involving areal maneuvers, you want to include the take off and landing. But for wakeboarding I felt that due to the consistent surroundings of 2 sides of wake, nothing different no matter what location, it was somewhat tiedious to keep showing the take off and landing.
Phew!
anyways her are the photos-
started with some wakeskate stuff, I had to shoot from the side for the wakeskaters

Then I moved on to some amature wakeboarding, these girls kinda owned. I was able to get on the back of the boat. but using the 300, I had to frame the shot just perfect to get everything in the frame for the jump, or else I would cut off limbs and/or the board:/
