Critique my concert photos please!

I use aperture to edit raw, any ideas or tips? I processed these as much as i could, but this is my first time shooting, and editing concert photos.


Theyre definitely nothing pro, but this was my first concert.

Any critique would be MUCH appreciated, as i'll be shooting another concert this saturday!

(By the way, do you think i need a speedlite?)

I'm no concert photo expert but v.nice shots. For Critique on your concert shooting you're best off posting in the 'Performing Art's section. If you want critique on your processing you're in the right place. For me nothing wrong with your PP. exposed correctly, good colour.

Did use 2nd curtain sync to get the effect in #14 and others?

i did post them there, but i'm pretty adamant about getting into concert photography..... so i want more critique exposure... :P
no i just used a slower shutter speed with a flash, about +/- 1/2 second shutter, and a +2 on the flash compensation (though i think ill do +1 next time)
all that, white swisting the camera while the shutter was open (and not stopping my motion until the shutter was closed).. same effect by zooming in

Make a narrower selection: 24 is way too much.

Better post the ones you are *really* happy with, and leave out the worse ones.

Some comments:

Some of the non-flashed ones (first post) are nice.
I see a ton of flare in #20, probably caused by a filter.
The ones with flash would have been better with less flash and a gel added to the flash, to balance the color temperatures.

kill the use of flash if you want to get into concert photography, you won't be allowed at most decent places

buy faster glass..

Reread the IMAGE POSTING RULES (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=74718) We only allow 8 embedded pics by the OP per thread, duplicate threads are forbidden, & this thread is in the wrong section & belongs in PA.

I'd like to see tighter crops... But thats just a suggestion.
