Itsy bitsy spider crept up the....
Saw this little feller exploring the wall by our front door, turned out to be rather camera shy and it took a few tries to get this just right, still not sure i got it 100% but this is the bets shot i got of it.
Im no arachnologist so i have no idea what the species is, but il calling him bob http://e.deviantart.com/emoticons/b/biggrin.gif

Bob looks like a jumper. the lighting is interesting..seems dark for flash fired..

actually the was i made this is rather odd
set it to f9 @ iso100, the exposure time was 4 seconds and the flash was first curtain
i took the photo, but forgot about the 4 seconds exposure and moved the cam, so it got some background ambient light blur that made the whole image a tad foggy and washed out in a way, while still retaining sharpness and contrast (odd i know)
by adjusting the shadows curve in PS i was able to darken the bad areas and the result is a rather odd but (for me at least) somehow pleasant looking exposure effect

indeed....i have done some whacked out things with my camera also... it happens..
or when you think you got it all right...1 thing is wrong (for me, i acidentally change my file size down to the smallest setting by acidentally hitting the button...)
i get inside and notice 100 shots all 640x480 ! (thats my worst one yet.)

It's a jumping spider, salticidae family. Quite common, non harmful to humans, very inquisitive, not really aggressive. Impressive shot for a 4 second exposure. Well done.

cheers dave
thanks so much for helping identify bob
and yes he was inquisitive, and quite funny
when i tried to make a picture he ran in circles, every few seconds he turned around and waved his front 2 legs at the lens (raaawr ima eat you), that naturally mad me laugh and so the picture came out of focus, this is one of the only successful shots i managed to take before i had to go and leave bob to his business

Yes, they do do that. Most macro photographers love Jumpers as they make excellent subjects (as you've no doubt discovered).

Macro and spiders....hmmm just do not appeal to me...I hate them!! But the shots are awesome! I was browsing through here one day and my kid was behind me watching.....I clicked one thread like this one and he jumped a mile....very close shots all, very detailed, very real looking.....keep shooting so I don't have too!!
