POTN Chicago Summer Meetup Vote

Alright ladies and gents, we've been having a little trouble nailing down a definite location for the next POTN Chicago meetup. There have been alot of good suggestions but no unanimous vote for a particular location so at the request of fellow members I'm getting this poll started so we can get a better idea of where to put the tack on the map. The locations listed are just those that have been suggested in the current POTN Chicago thread here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=513549). If you have an idea for a meet not listed in the poll please don't hesitate to make a suggestion. Also keep in mind that meets do not have to be confined to the greater Chicago area but with the current economic downturn we need to try and keep it financially feasible travel wise.

Sorry Bobarian, was in the process of collecting suggestions. I hope these cover the majority of what was suggested, if I missed it please post it here in the thread. The only meet we have a date for currently is Bristol but the Ren Faire is held every weekend from July 5th to Sept. 1st.

I voted for the Lakefront and the Shedd Aquarium. I also have an appointment with myself to see the U-505 at the Science and Industry museum some time this year. I haven't see the sub since it went underground a couple of years ago.

I'd like to to vote, but then I'd feel obligated to go. Unfortunately, this summer is filling up very quickly. So I will let others make the decision on where and when. Hopefully I will be able to go.

No dates as of yet Beachbum, I think there may be a small contingent going to Bristol WI this weekend for the Ren Faire but haven't heard anything definite. As far as the lakeshore is concerned we need to start looking at dates. I'm fairly flexible throughout the summer. I'm just gonna say lets plan for the Lakefront in mid to late August which should give plenty of lead time for members to check their schedules and find a date that works. Also we need to take into consideration that were approaching peak summer temperatures and walking around Chicago all day this time of year with a good deal of photo gear is asking alot of some so we may also want to think of pushing the Lakefront back into September or even early October when temps are a bit more reasonable. I feel like I'm kinda taking the lead here so anyone feel free to chime in with suggestions for Chicago or ideas for other meets. I think we've got a great group of photographers here and I've had a blast shooting with you all so lets get something together, I'd hate for POTN Chicago to just fade into non activity.

honestly, it is going to be hard to have everyone show up in one place. so why not have 2-3 set dates and whoever shows up, shows up. lol. IMO you only need 3-4 ppl to have a good time with your fellow photographers. sets up for a more intimate time. lol

I'm probably gonna sit out on Bristol this weekend, I may attempt to go before Sept. but I've got too much work to catch up on. I know ifixsharp (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/member.php?u=85170) was trying to get a group together for this weekend at Bristol but at this point I'm not sure if that is still on or not. Sounds like a few might be going to the Volleyball tourney in Racine WI though so that might be another option for ya Andrea. Andrea do you live in Janesville WI by any chance? Your "Behind the Cheddar Curtain" got me curious so I checked your flickr and noticed a shot from Riverside, nice photostream btw.

It's dependent on someone else - not the potential bad weather. I'm posting this message in the other thread also, in case some people aren't monitoring both threads.

I was thinking I might head out there, but my plans have changed and I won't be in Antioch this weekend like I thought. I'm glad I won't be missing a big group. I do live in Janesville, far west side. The shot of Riverside was my first attempt at trying to find something redeeming about Janesville other than factories, fast food restaurants, and run down old strip malls. So far, that's pretty much it. ;)

I'm usually the one that doesn't hear the dinner bell...:confused:I wasn't aware that there was an air show in Gary this weekend, featuring the Thunderbirds. Missed it today, but it's on again from noon to 4PM, Sunday. I'll probably head out there tomorrow. Anyone else going? (I'll post on the other thread as well)
