I need to purchase a compact camera and have narrowed it down to the 790IS or the 1100IS. I like the larger LCD on the 790 but like the bit smaller size of the 1100. I have kids and take all kinds of pictures, including lots of sports shots with it zoomed in. I'm trying to figure out which one overall is a better camera. Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Pretty close cameras side by side in terms of size and performance...go try one and see what one you like more. I have a 790 and love it though!

I just bought the 790 and really like it. It does a great job of capturing moving images with little blur also. I can't speak for the 1100 on that issue.

Do any of these models have a viewfinder? I find that I use mine more often nowadays. I would never buy a camera without one.

I have an SD1100IS and bought it specifically because of its super small size. If youre looking for portability its a clear winner. As far as the view finder goes... well I have never used one on any point and shoot Ive ever owned. I save that for my DSLRs.
