Has any one taken an IXUS II apart.

Hi, I have read elsewhere in the forum of people replacing the lcd's in their compact digital cameras, however i have not seen any mention of the IXUS II, I broke mine a while ago (smashed with a cymblal). The backlight is fine and the camera still takes good pictures but i want to replace the lcd . I have experiance with repairing electrical items so. I hapily tried to open it up, however after remoting all the screws there is still something holding it together in the upper corner near the shutter release.

Has any one taken an IXUS II apart enough to know what the next step is, i am relectant to use brute force allthough this may well be the only solution.

Also has anyone ordered spares in uk/europe (im near Oxford UK)? how did it go??

Many thanks

Tom

Since my post i have spoken to cannon uk who do not sell spares however they recomended me to another company

http://www.lehmannsdirect.co.uk/
uk tel 01782 413611
These guys said they could sell me the part for about £40 but would have to order it and would take 7-10days so presumably they get it from canon usa

Also the guy said that it was quite simple to separate the halves so on a second attempt with a little force (more that i would like to have used) it camp appart, there is a little catch that has to bend to open (just to the right of the power button when looking from the front. the back then comes away. it also appears that the lcd and backlight are 1 unit (made by sony!)
