That is a great family set. Sharp, lovely colors, and contrast. I like the borders too they give a professional feel to the set!

just picked this lens up last week and i finally ran it through the ringer yesterday.On the Mk4 it needs no MA, the AF is very acurate and i only had about 3 OOF shots of 80 or so shots. i am very happy with this copy and i guess i got lucky. its very sharp wide open.... I am loving this lens

Can your camera do micro-adjustment?
You may find it is only out when focusing at very close range, and wide open.
Give it some time and a few more test shots before deciding it's no good.
If you had been focusing on the nearer bottle it is sharp there (!)

Truckee River at the Reno whitewater park. They've built some nice features there that still go at trickling summer flows.

Mine does that every once in a while, but I just have to take the photo again. Is that a constant issue or can you get correctly focused shots every once in a while?

Just found out that UPS apparently has been trying to deliver to my home address with no one home. Only saw the UPS label on the door last night. This means my lens is back from servicing... which was pretty fast. Would have only been about 7 days if I recieved it on Friday.

Looking forward to seeing this thing focus better. Use it on both a 5D and 7D. Will probably be my 5D walkaround lens now.

It is absolutely fantastic on my 5D2 - it barely comes off the camera. I like it quite a bit more on the 5D2 than on the 7D.

Just got mine back. I have not yet mounted it, but I wanted to share what the packing slip says:

FIRMWARE UPDATED ADJUSTED AF D
ATA 5D MARK II
Date Processed: 2012-07-23

So you know, this is how I described to them the issue on the repair order I generated online:
Problem Description: Front focuses on both 5D (original) and 7D bodies. 5D does not have microadjustment. Applying 7D microadjustment does not completely resolve problem when subject is at closer focusing distances. Less noticeable front focusing when subject is several meters away.

I liked it better on FF than on crop. It just won't look cropped as close when using FF. You'll get more into the photo, that's all.

Just got a Manfrotto 055XPROB and I find shooting with this lens so much better! I had a cheap $40 tripod before that would shake at the slightest wind so shots at 1.4 where hard to get in focus but since I got the tripod I thought I would play with the Sigma some more :)

Just dropped off mine for calibration to the service center here in Chandler, AZ, along with my 5D II.

The turnaround time is up to three weeks, I am told. I am hoping it’s done sooner than that.

@JJ - what did you do to those eyes in the second photo, if anything? I try to do this with my portraits but they never come out right. What you did was magnificent. What's your secret, if anything?

I didn't do anything special, certainly no selective treatments. The exposure was raised for the whole image, also shadows +33, whites +17, Highlights +5 and Blacks -33 (processed in LR4). Slight tweaks to saturation as well :)

Well you certainly nailed the eye focus! Peeked at your EXIF, I love shooting this lens at 2.2. Seems to really be a sweet spot.

LOL! :D I Soooooo feel the same way 99% of the time!

Here's one that I cheated on, stopped down to f/6.3 and OCF! Better be sharp! ;) Wish the boy wasn't wearing the jacket with words on it though. Trying to get these two to cooperate is impossible. This was as good as it got!

Yes it really is nice at f2.2, I use it quite a lot at that aperture.

Not really a landscape lens but....I was also finding that stopped down much more than f/8 and diffraction become apparent. This was at 7.1 . I think this may be the sweet spot on my copy.

Got the lens back from Sigma. This is the lens at f1.8 mounted on the 5D. There's still some slight front focus, but much better than before. The image was focused on the brother in the blue helmet. When I upgrade the 5D, microadjust should fix this. I haven't tried it on the 7D. Still happy with the lens.
