View Full Version : An unusual request for UK shooters

Dear fellow UK shooters,

I'm facing an unexpected dilemma here and kindly asking for your possible help.

I sold my 17-40mm in order to upgrade to 16-35mm, unfortunately due to holiday season, transaction via paypal became extremely slow, money has gone out of my account, but yet reached seller's bank. Even with fastest shipping, it'll take at least 3 days to reach me(from the other side of the pond), which means the earliest possible day would be Saturday, the 8th.

I'm in need of a wide angle lens for upcoming track cycling world cup held in Manchester from 7th to 9th of January, if you can, please lend me your 17-40mm, 17-35mm or 16-35mm for the weekend, I'd be much appreciated. I will buy you couple of pints to say thank you.

I did contact Calumet Manchester, however, they don't have 17-35mm(the only WA they have on rental list) available in the branch and they couldn't guarantee that they would get one in time for this Friday.

If you know any other rental places where I can hire a lens within Northwest UK, please do let me know, or if you don't need the lens for the weekend and willing to help me out, please PM or email me.

I know this is an unusual request, however, I will insure the lens to its full value and guarantee it goes back to you at original condition, no, I'll clean it for you if necessary.

Cheers!

I'm laid up in bed with a broken left leg so you can borrow my 17-40 if you want - but you'll have to come to Bolton to collect and return it. PM sent.

Can't help with the lens, unless you want my Sigma 17-35mm with a smashed front element :)

However, have you tried Fixation ? (http://www.fixationuk.com/rentlist.htm). I've never used their rental scheme before, so don't know about rental details. However, I'm sure they could overnight courier up a lens for you if you asked nice.

Great bunch of people, i've used them for years for repairs.

Cheers

Ian

Cheers folks, it seems that I WILL receive my lens tomorrow afterall thanks to Fedex's international priority service, 48 hours to your door step from the other side of the pond!(and they make sure you get what you pay for!) Even if it doesn't arrive in the morning, It will still serve me for Saturday and Sunday.

Barry, thanks for your offer, and I hope your leg gets better, how did you break it? Motorway pursuit?

Ian, thanks for your advice, I will keep them in mind when I need any assistant :)

hehehe, cheers Neil :D Think I'll be fine for now.

Without WA zoom, it kind forced to me play with my new 15mm Canon fisheye, oh boy, isn't it fun!

I'll post some samples as soon as the slow DPP finish batch processing ... :D

Watch out in "Sports" forum for some fun cycling shots!

sGu,

No, not so dramatic as a pursuit - got up too quick in the middle of the night to go to the toilet, not enough blood pressure, passed out and as I fell my left foot got trapped under the toilet bowl as my tib went against the shower basin - crack (and 15 sutures to my head as I hit the door frame). Felt a right ***!

Oh Barry !! Made me feel queezy just hearing that. Get better soon.

Of course, you will need to think up a better story than that, you know, for medals etc. "Well, I was trying to stop these bank robbers getting away and......" :)

Cheers
