I have more than a few of these batteries laying around that haven't been used in about 6 months and I was more than a little disappointed that most wont even hold a charge now :( The only ones that work are the two original Canon batteries (the others are from Opteka, SterlingTek and e-bay). Now I know why Canon batteries cost more (they are well worth it in my book now).

Anyway, I've been putting a few of these batteries on my Canon HV30, playing a tape until it auto-shuts off then putting them on the charger. Repeated this about 10 times and nada. They still only last about 5 minutes on the camcorder while the Canon batteries last about 35 minutes. Anyone know any tips, tricks or methods? Or am I just SOL?

when you store you Li-Ion and LI-Poly batteries for extended periods, try and discharge them to about 40%. Left at either full charge or under 20-25% can actually cause cells to degrade faster.

Sometimes it is possible to recondition a battery, but I would not count on it. My experience is once a Li-Ion/Li-Poly battery heads south it's a gonner and fast too...I have had them go from being able to hold 70Z% of their original charge to under 10% in less than a month.
