Couldn't find any info in a search for recommended inkjet printing papers, so I thought I would ask...
What papers give the best results, and with what printer and inks do you use them...

I use Magiclee papers a lot on a Canon iPF6100. Wonderful landscape colors on their Verona paper.

Depends what kind of feel you want. I personally like everything I've tried from Hahnemuhle, especially the Fine Art Pearl, Photo Rag, Photo Rag Pearl, and Photo Rag Baryta. I'm getting some prints done on Epson Exhibition Fiber which is supposed to be amazing but the price is certainly up there.

For a bargain, I've had good results with Harman papers. The box looks exactly like the old Ilford B/W paper boxes (green on black) -- turns out they used to manufacture (or still do?) for Ilford... anyway, bargain price if you can find Harman with good results.

I'm after experimenting, but just wish to avoid the crappy papers or bog standard glossy ones... I've just ordered some Ilford Gallerie Classic Pearl and Gallerie Fine Art... Does anyone know what results I can expect on HP Photosmart and/or a Epson Photo Stylus 1200...

The Hoff,

"I'm getting some prints done on Epson Exhibition Fiber which is supposed to be amazing but the price is certainly up there"

I for one would appreciate your thoughts when you have seen these. I have never seen this advertised. Is it so much dearer than other Epson papers? I use Epsons Premium Glossy for most of my work and have been generally disappointed with the matt or semi matt papers I have tried. I imagine it is a matt paper?

I just purchased the Exhibition fiber paper in the 13x19 for $150. I have a Epson 4880 and went to the Epson web site for the profile were they linked me to the Pixel genius site. To make a long story short I had to feed it manually though the front feed to avoid banding. It appears to me that it is to thick to feed through the automatic feed tray. This is 2 sheets later. As far as my impressions of the paper, its nice. I print in color, and that may not be its strong point. I really like the Ink press luster and Epson gloss. I also really like who ever made the 13x19 gloss sheet for Canon,

Luminous Landscape has a recent write up of Baryta papers on their site, with the Ilford Gold Fibre Silk being ranked their favorite (I use it and it is fantastic on a 2880, even without a custom profile being available yet).

I know most photographers don't print fine art photos on glossy paper, but if you do need a glossy paper, Sam's Club sells 100 sheets of 8.5" x 11" Ilford Galerie Smooth Gloss for $19.95 USD. I use it with my HP printer for basic family photos. The disappointing thing is that's all they carry... no other types or sizes. Sam's must have gotten a great deal on just that type, size and quantity, but that's the way warehouse stores work. If you see a great deal one week, it will be sold out the next, never to be in stock again.

I intend to buy 2 more boxes before they sell out.

Killer deal; that pack is $50 at Adorama.

The Ilford Galerie Smooth Gloss is not even listed on Sam's website. I guess they are down to existing stock in the stores. If you find it, I recommend grabbing a box.

Kenny,
have a look at Permajet papers, i tried the Oyster 271 gms and was very pleased with it. Also if you purchase direct they will send you an ICC profile for the particular paper and the ink/ printer you are using.

Thanks, I've just ordered 25 sheets along with their Photo Art Pearl...

I've just printed a copy of this on Ilford Gallerie Smmoth Fine Art Paper and I'm quite impressed as the paper suits the look...

Kenny,
don`t think you will be disappointed with their products or the ICC profiling service.
If you want the speciality papers they do a trial pack, which contains sample sheets of all their papers ,download the ICC profiles for the individual paper and away you go.
Let us know what results you get.
Love the shot, but hated platforms in the 70`s when i followed fashion....................... i must be getting old !
Cheers,
