For all you people that have used it, I'm really thinking of making a book and wondering what size I should have my photos at for use in the book.

I have made several of these and use full res files, if that's what you mean by 'what size'.

Each template has different sizes. For best quality, resize each shot to fit.

I've had 6 printed through them and I've always just used my original full sized JPGs. They do a very acceptable job, but next time I'll create my own page layouts and just drop them in. Their software isn't very flexible.

hey frank,
how much space did you allow for bleed on your cover?
whats the best way to have your cover shot totally fill the cover with no gaps?
have you tried the photo hardcover books from blurb?

how much space did you allow for bleed on your cover? 1/8", but there was a lot of extra room for an error on their part, which I ran into on another book.
They say that bleed margins are 1/8". Don't believe it if you have something important right at that edge. Allow 1/4" instead. More if the important edge is at the binding edge.
AndreaBFS: I didn't care for some of their layouts, so I just made a bleed print in PS with the pics & type where I wanted it. Worked great!
More:
Make sure that the CB of the dust cover matches the same interior print of the same subject.
f you're doing the book for a commercial client, you don't have to have the Blurb logo in the book, but they will cost more.
And, if/when they screw up, email Bruce & he'll take care of it. have you tried the photo hardcover books from blurb? Not yet. I might if/when someone pays for a custom book. Let me know if you try it & what you think of them.
