Found this deer fly basking in the sun on the wooden handrail of a bridge. Thankfully this gave me something to rest the camera on!

Excellent shots of a deer fly - a biting Tabanid fly not a hoverfly :)

Excellent shots of a Deerfly - the only time I've seen one was when I didn't have my camera with me around 2 years ago :( Strange thing was, this fly kept hanging around me but not biting me.
