This was taken at Brands Hatch this weekend and made a change from an old car being driven by someone with a modern looking crash helmet.

I think it would look good on a canvas, what do people think?

Thanks, Simon

Simon,

I think it looks lovely, the only shame for me is the background, I would have loved to have seen something like a field going away up the hill in the picture with a wooden fence and wire? Something a bit retro?

Apart from that i love the car and the detail (such as the old style helmet and balaclava.

Now that i look at it more, the dark upper and light lower to the photo makes it look great with the car separating the two halves. I guess in answer to your original question, yes it would look good. I could see it hanging in my hallway.

Mark.

Short answer - yes!

I like the background / foreground as it is, it focuses the attention nicely on the car & driver (IMHO of course)

Yes it would look good IMO as it already has a real retro feel too it.

Try and convert it into a Sepia tone just for the heck of it as a standard print.

I like it alot.

That would be a good picture for someone making some sort of advertisement. Put the text up top in the dark background area.

made a change from an old car being driven by someone with a modern looking crash helmet. Reminds me of Jimmy Clark. Very nice shot!

Should make a good canvas. Maybe try a big print first to see if it's is worth the extra cost of canvas.

Personally, I think it would benefit from being a more panoramic crop. I would loose at least half the foreground making the car sit in the lower half of the photo rather than in the middle (if canvas dimensions allow).

Thanks for the comments, I've had a re-jig since getting home and like the panoramic crop idea. I can get a 28" x 11" print done reasonably cheaply to give me an idea of how it will look.

Simon,

Great pic but I would not go so tight on the crop, leave a little more foreground as it helps the image to come alive.

I played around a little and came up with this version, whatever though, it's a real "old style moody picture"

Great image...

Simon I like the idea of the crop. I agree with Northern Ferret that it is a bit tight. Maybe somewhere inbetween your and NF's. I like the feel in both of the versions. Go with the one you like best.

That is an awsome capture, the first is my favourite, the crop is good, but like what has been said its a little tight. The sepia colour one is also nice but just doesnt have the same feel as the original, good luck getting it printed!

Excellent shot Simon.....although I think that colour ('British Racing Green' I presume) would be equally as nice.... nice and sharp with well chosen shutter speed and aperture....

Do you have the colour version available? I'd like to see that as well....

Cheers,
Sass

I appreciate the comments and it's good to try out some of the advice with regards to the cropping of the picture.

Sass, this is the original photo - no crop just a bit of saturation and levels.
