I was at a wedding in Baltimore last night and as usual, I had my camera with me - just for practice in that kind of situation. I had my 40D, 17-55, my 430ex with a 3x5 card. So at the reception, I am struggling with settings - mainly trying to get good exposures with the flash. So one of the pros comes over and gives me some suggestions. Then the other goes into his bag and lends me one of those little slip on flash diffusors (I have one but forgot it). I decided to just use my card and gave it back. Then, of course, my batteries in my flash die. So I am standing there with my pop-up flash up and my hood backwards. One of the guys comes up to me and asks what's wrong. I tell him and then he goes over to his bag and lends me 4 batteries. Then he explains his system for keeping his batteries charged and organized. Throughout the night, they offered me a few more tips. One even used my camera to take a picture of me and my wife dancing.
So, it's just nice that people will go out of their way to help a novice like me out - even if they don't have to.
