My apologies, I meant no offense.
Everything I type I backspace over here. I have no idea what I'm doing with this post...
Keep shooting, looking forward to seeing more, Tuna.

Well I'm not a newbie, but I'd like to hear as well. I do enjoy many of the things Tuna has posted, some excellent work, but I really don't see this as in the same class as most of the others.

This is the same exact class of all of Tuna's great work which is "street". This forum is really not the best place to find street photography because it is near impossible with huge DSLR bodies and long zoom lenses. This pictures shows people, doing exactly what they would do if they weren't having their picture taken. Tuna was able to catch them in his camera while they were still candid, which is the idea of good street photography.

Sorry. The reason I said that was because I know that Tuna shoots with small, compact film rangefinder cameras. I have enjoyed your street photos for a long time as well BottomBracket. It's just that lots of people, such as me, aren't up to the challenge of trying true street photography with a DSLR and instead shoot film.

He said that it was "nearly impossible" with DSLRs -- so just take credit that you are accomplishing the nearly impossible. Nevermind that only wusses use focals over 50mm ;)
(and hey, I'm about to defect anyway... with no one making a decently fast digital rangefinder, I'm inches from ordering the new wide Voigt Bessa and 28/1.9)

I agree it's the same style, but not in the same class IMO. I think just about anyone with a compact camera could go down to coney island and shoot something like this, not the case with most of the other work I've seen seen from him such as No Deal in a separate thread at the moment.
There's a ton of great street photography here so I'm not sure what forum you are looking at. :)
Enjoy
P.S. The other thing I wanted to add in response is that it's not really about equipment, it's about the result, eh?

I must admit that there is a grain of truth in what Jeremy said about dSLR's - they are big, scream"camera!" and are ill suited for street photography. I used to shoot with a film rangefinder long ago and I do find that the whole approach to street shooting is different with the camera one uses. This is why I use Canon G-series cameras sometimes, they do have some of the characteristics of film rangefinders. Hoff, I have been thinking about that Bessa too (and the M8 but that's too expensive especially when considering its performance), if you ever get one I would appreciate some feedback ;) Canon should make a similar camera.
I agree with Ken - there are a lot of excellent photographers on this forum shooting street. And this is a great place to be inspired and to learn more about the craft.

....and unfortunately I'm not one of them posting candids, but I am one of the very interested observers and am definitely inspired by all the postings here. On day soon I'm gonna drag this 1D and telephoto downtown. :)

Better yet try a 35mm lens instead.

I'll load that on my 5D and go for it. :) Maybe I'll use my 16-36 though. I do want to get a couple of primes in that range, like the 50 1.4 and maybe a 35 or 24 ....
