Two sunset shots.. plz critique

Got these two sunset shots during my ill-fated boat trip over the NY period. Please tell me what you think.

Both were taken from a boat, without a tripod, so they are not as sharp as id have liked.. what do you guys think of composition etc??

I don't care for the first as I feel that there isn't enough to hold my interest.

I do like the second - the juxtaposition of the machinery against the natural backdrop of the sky at sunset works really well in my opinion.

Well done, certainly a keeper.

I agreed with Meerkat - first one doesn't hold my interest..but the second one is getting there...i love the dark foreground. Might want to try getting the colors of the sky up and more puncuated in PS.

I've yet to take one successful sunset/sunrise photo, and here you have two :D
