All my shooting is in manual or Av modes. Could someone give me an example were TV mode would be Used.
Thanks

Its for when the shutter speed is the priority in the shot (time value). So it could be freezing the motion of a particular sports person, eg a golfer mid-swing. I suppose it could also be used for long exposures if you couldn't be bothered working out the aperture but you know how long you want the exposure to be....
hope this helps

Other examples:
Panning shots
Changing the look of water (frozen droplets vs silky smooth)
Freezing action (though you can usually do this pretty easily in AV too)

I use it a lot when im trying to take pics of my lurchers running, they can run at over 30mph and make turns on a 6 pence so i need a constant shutter speed as im not to botherd about DOF a great deal, just catching the action.

Whenever you need to ensure a particular shutter speed; typically for freezing/blurring motion - and the aperture doesn't matter so much (especially on distant/infinite backgrounds such as BIF/planes).

Racing, where you know you want to freeze the action but don't really care about anything else

I use Tv mode at 1/250sec & below for motor sports panning shots. That's the only time I use it.
