Back from a great weekend + a bit more in Ypres! What a great rally it was.

The highlight was undoubtedly the atmosphere in the town. especially at the finish podium!

As for the watching it was absolutely brilliant . The top S2000s are something else especially on the brakes but the noise as they hurtle through the lanes is awesome!

Overall a superb rally, brilliant atmosphere and when its a short hop across the water its a must for all British rally fans!

Took a shed load of pics on my new camera (after I managed to get a replacement 40D for the broken 30d!). Here are just a few i managed to somehow pick from my set. Im pleased with the results of the new camera so please comment at will!

Nice set Tom. Ypres is a an awe inspiring place, did you visit any of the cemeteries or the menin gate?

One thing I would say, it's a shame you have chopped the top of the tree off in No.3, I really like the composition and the wider view incorporating the farm into the photo.

Great set Tom. I have recently become a fan of wide shots in motorsports. I have to say #3 is a great shot.

I do like high speed tarmac action, and these dont disappoint in that respect.
Basso ,kopeki, and betti are great action shots, but shutter speeds look a little high for me through most of the set.
The loix shot is lovely but wheel blur or even rear end car blur could have made it classic.
Obviously a great event,well done.

Thanks for the comments guys!

All taken on board for next time. Agree with all the suggestions. All i will say is I was shooting higher shutter speeds of the top cars just to ensure the shot i wanted (still learning and all that and its not everyday i get taken to an international rally!) but did play around more down the field. If im allowed ill post some more links later?

Yes Jason i did visit the gate and some of the cemeteries. In fact the shakedown stage passed right past one and at the finish the cars lined up right back to the menin gate waiting to go onto the finish ramp. All puts it into perspective..some very powerful places.

Hi Tom,
The trouble with the top cars is they are always so much quicker than the pack,so know exactly where you are coming from re shutter speed,I have the T shirt !.
Get the shot, then playaround ,no problem with that .
Look forward to seeing more, post on new thread, part 2.

A really good and varied selection Tom but personally the first one stands out for me.

A good set of images, it's great to see the surrounding landscape helps put the cars in perspective. Like the first curtain flash shot.

Know how you feel about getting the shot first then attempting to improve your technique, took me a full fortnight the first time I went to the Isle of Man TT to get the shutter speed down and feel confident about still getting the shots I wanted.

Nice pictures! I still need to upload mine as I was there as well. Ypres is always a great rally and like said before a great atmosphere at the podium.
