Nice to see you back here again :)

All very nice, except #5; that one doesn't do much for me...

Since when is Fields of the Nephilim Metal?
IIRC it was considered Gothic when I listened last ;)

A very impressive set. My only criticism -- and it's not aimed at you -- is for number 8. How lame is it for someone in a band to be wearing one of their own tee shirts?

...love the Fields Of The NellyTheElephant one, just think how many bags of flour were sacrificed to get that look :)

Wow kalle!

I haven't seen you post here for a while.

Absolutely stunning set!

#s 2, 4, 7 & 8 are some of the best music shots I have seen in a while.

Did you do anything special with the post processing?

i'm just blown away..

# 1 & 4 are doing it for me..

May i ask what equipment you used and that..Just really digging the image quality.

I don't know what is wrong with you guys, but clearly 3, 4, 7, and 8 are the best here... Why, if you just look at the composition, colors and framing, it's very obvious I'm right.

Just wait and you'll see... When the man who knows all (DM), renders his opinion, you'll know I'm right.:lol:

And besides, I'm sure Kalle would agree with me... that these are his favorites too.:D

So there is something wrong with us if we dont all agree on the same images? Isn't that what personal opinion is all about..

Thanks all.

Did you do anything special with the post processing?

Depends what you consider special... most is done with lightroom adjustments (creative use of the white balance sliders, desaturation, fill light, blacks, contrast, curves, and brightness is what I use). The trick is to get a solid gut feel of the options there. If you adjust just one, the image may look like crap. Understanding how the parameters work together is essential. Also, knowing what the "brightness" adjustment (as an example) really does help you understand when you should use it (to remedy something).

Also, I added grain to the Killswitch Engage shot (digital photos often look dead, and adding "imperfections" will make them easier to "feel"), and a very minor amount to the Mokoma shot.

I often also add wignette to my photos.

May i ask what equipment you used and that..Just really digging the image quality.

1D mark 3 + 70-200/2.8 L IS for the tele shots, 5D + 16-35/2.8 L II for the single wide shot. I do a lot more wide angle stuff, but these are from the main stage which was rather high, not many opportunities for wide angle stuff. Lightroom for most of the post processing (some things done in PS), RealGrain plugin to add grain to the KSE shot.

As for the equipment, I'm sure cheaper alternatives (Sigma lenses for instance) would've been just as good in this case.

My favorites of these would be 2 (I like the repeating swirly theme there) 3, and 4.

Here's one from the other pit:

I think johnstoy is not being entirely serious. He has omitted a few smileys in his post, so to speak.

Say Rene'... I already started to get into trouble this early morning, and the day hasn't even started yet... That's the price I pay for my clowning around...

I'm especially impressed (as usual) with some of Kalle's pics... It's a breath of fresh air to that similar, and sometimes bland PA pic.

Remember the real popular TV commercial?.. where there is a guy sitting in a chair, listening to a couple of big stereo speakers, and the sound blows his hair all the way back? That blast of sound, sends his hair flying back horizontally...:D

Well, pic # 4 is even better... (It's sort of a reverse action of same.) And it's not even "orchestrated"... it's actual stage action... Great capture and timing by Kalle.

Stunning shots man. You definitely know how to capture your metal moments. Hopefully I can make it over to Europe one of these summers for a festival or two. I just have to get my non-metalhead wife to cooperate :)

4, 4, 4, 4, 4!!!!! Thanks for musing me to get back into stinky smoky bars to keep cutting my teeth on metal acts! If I can get just one shot like that and claim it as my own...I can die a happy man. :)

(Also...that is an awesome pic!)
