I read a post on another forum about a DRebel having mechanical failure after 20,000 clicks. I was wondering if this is the normal life expectancy of the Rebel. Anyone shooting Rebel's let me know how many shots you have on your cameras.
Thanks

I have more than 20k. I think I've heard 50k as a likely failure point, but this is only for the shutter (replaceable). I don't think that the complete failure is likely to happen at any particular number, more likely time and conditions of use.

Mine was bought during the Dreb's 1st week of sale... I went over 35K before needing a shutter...
Now? It's as good as new, perhaps even better. I think the shutter fabrication probably got better as Canon learned more about it's failure modes and... The alignment given to my 300D during the shutterectomy seems better than it's original factory alignment... Focus seems better and AF is a bit more sensitive...
I'd guess their service techs probably are a bit more savy than factory aligners... Also, 1½ years have passed since the 300D's release so alignment is probably pretty much a known art at this point...

Roy NN7DX, how much did it cost you.

Thanks
