New to the DFW and looking to go out and shoot some motor-sports action (it has been too long since my last race - over 6 month).
I'm not sure this is the right place to post this but I would really like to get to know what Texas has to offer
I attached some pic's from the last event I've been too... plain nostalgia...

Here are some organizations and venues that you can Google for more info:
TORN TCCRA TORO Cross country motorcycle racing associations
Texas Motor Speedway NASCAR and other oval racing
Texas Motorplex drag racing
Txmotocross.com Lists all local tracks and events
chasinracin.com Track locator for Oval and drag racing
Oak Hill MX is having an event July 11th - 13th. Nice photo friendly MX track about 70 miles from Dallas.

Thanks. I already visited the TORN and Txmotocross.com but I have hard time understanding when races are on. the TORN has an Event Calendar but it doesn't show anything until July 26.
The chasinracin.com and Texas Motorplex drag racing sites are great. I've never been to this kind events before.
I'd be happy to join any photographer which is attending this races since I'm not familiar with the "Do and Don'ts " here (where can I stand, Where can I go, How much it costs etc).
If any of you is heading out to shoot Motocross, Hair Scramble , Supermoto , Road bikes and such, in the Dallas area, it will be great if you'll let me know. (I have only Sundays off)
Thanks

You might try going to a local bike shop to get better info on events. When you find an event you want to attend I would call to find out what their policies are on photographers.
If you have never been to a dirt oval race I would highly recommend going to the Devil's Bowl to watch the sprint cars. In my opinion this is the most exciting form of auto racing.
I'm probably going to the Sunday Oak Hill MX race I mentioned in my first post. I'll know for sure in a few days.
I visited your website; you have some great photos. I especially liked the one in "magazine tests" of the ATV with it's front left tire apparently right in your face!

Welcome Mati!
I also like the photos you posted. One other local (south of Ft. Worth) motocross track is Village Creek. They don't have the July calender up yet, but I suspect they still have the practice sessions on the weekends.
I agree with Devils Bowl in Mesquite. I haven't been there for quite a few years but before if you bought the "pit pass" you could go infield with your camera gear. They race on Saturday night.
Good luck! Gart

Thanks so much guys for your help
To be honest I'm pretty embarrassed to go out on my own at the moment - Some company will be much appreciated. Maybe we can start a"Dallas motorsports photography meetup group...." :-)
I think I'll try and go to the Oak Hill MX race, if I'll have the courage/Company. if any body else wants to come - please let me know

99% that I'll be going to the Oak Hill MX race next Sunday. I emiled them and they sounded very nice (though I have no idea what the entry cost is or what is Sunday's schedule ).
If any body would like to join me - let me know

I'm going also unless something unexpected comes up. Gate fee is $10.00. Practice starts at 7:30 am. Actual starting time for the first race is not mentioned anywhere! I would guess 9 or 10 am.

Woww -Thanks. I'll surely look into that.
JSkinner - I guess I'm going to be there around 9-9:30 or at least I hope so... I would really like to know when every race is on. I don't want to get there at 10 and find out the 250 class is already done but on the other hand I don't want to wake up at 6 on a Sunday just to get there and realize the 50cc race is the first one and it starts at 11...
Maybe closer to the weekend they'll have more info.

Cheers

I got there at 10:30 and the races were over by 11:45! It's been years since I have shot motocross and I was just getting warmed up when it ended. The Oak Hill website needs to include start times for it's events. This was a two day event, 3 moto format, so I guess they ran two motos yesterday and one today. The turnout was low; only 6 or less in each class. There may have been more in the earlier races that I missed.
This track was in great shape; sandy loam with lots of sweeping on-camber turns with berms and some good jumps. There is a chain link fence around the perimeter with authorized personnel only in the infield. I was the only photographer there. Here are some of my shots:

I hope next event will be clearer about the schedule - I would have been very disappointed if I was to drive so much only to realize I have one hour of shooting..

This was a huge event that ran through the town streets and countryside. It was very hot and dusty but a lot of fun. An old friend that I used to ride mx with years ago ran in the over 52 class for the first time. He is in pics #1 and 2.
