View Full Version : Worlds Biggest Yacht Race: Round the Island

I managed to get a few exposures in between tacks whilst racing the Round the Island Race at the weekend - It is the largest boat race in terms of the number of competitors that take part - this year over 1750 boats took part! It is around the Isle of Wight in the UK.

We managed to come 5th out of 65 boats in our class - it was a shame we were all so busy working the sails as I kept seeing loads of opportunities for good shots, but it was too hectic to keep my dad's borrowed camera on deck and at hand!

Wow thats amazing. What boat were you on? Good to see they got it started rather quickly after the delays.

Almost every class you can imagine! There is more information about the boats that took part on the Round the Island Website (http://www.roundtheisland.org.uk)

We were in the Jeanneau Sunsail Sun Fast 37 class - might be doing it on a Beneteau First 40.7 next year though...

40.7 seems to be a fun boat. The race looks like a blast!

Metalman010 (Ross), nice to "meet" a local here. I'm just over in Burlington, just a short hop from Zenda and Lake Geneva. I've actually met Buddy before. My former boss used to race both with and against him.
