Digital Photo Professional, part of the included Canon software will give you a fair amount of flexibility in processing your RAW images; there's also a PS 7 plug-in for RAW; I don't know if it handles the 20D yet, though.

Raw Processing can, as I'm finding, get involved, but Photoshop Elements 3.0 and some of the higher versions can do it for you. If you save your raw image, you will have it for later when you learn more. To just try it out. Simply open the raw image in the Editor and you get the Raw Processing Screen. There are really very few choices, but you can, by previewing, see what's possible. Try it, you'll like it!

Stu,

Welcome to the forum :)

I am going to move this thread to "post processing" where you will find a bit more info on RAW processing ;)

Jon suggested you give Canon's excellent DPP (Digital Photo Professional) a try.. and I would second that. There are other 3rd party apps out there,. but for starting out and testing the waters.. I highly recomend the included software. DPP and Elements is all that is required to get you going.

The Canon Viewer software that comes with the 20D allows you to browse images, enhance RAW files before processing and process to jpeg or tiff formats. Changing white balance setting is extremely useful. Make sure you download the latest software update from the Canon website, as the processing algorithms are improved with every version. Alternatively you can use thrid party products such as BreezeBrowser or Capture One.
