View Full Version : The 100 boring stock images you have to take as a rite of passage

Thanks to WaltA for this idea and for his opening contributions:
OK, I see your point. Someone should start a thread titled "The 100 boring stock images you have to take as a rite of passage".
1 - Duck
2 - Silky water
3 - your model-wife in field of flowers (oh sorry - thats just Bryan Peterson)
4 - .....
The idea is simple. There are some shots that everyone who owns a DSLR has taken. It is, for lack of a better term, a rite of passage. They are so ubiquitous, so overdone that you only notice if you DON'T see one on their website.
My additions to the list:
4. Long exposure of automotive taillights
5. Lone generic flower on a blurred background. (Rain/dew drop optional)
6...
What shots have you seen that fit the bill? Let's see if we can find the 100 postulated by Walt!
Remember folks, this is all in good fun. :p

"Mirror mirror on the wall, I took a picture, hasn't all?" LOL
The old picture of ones self taking a picture of ones self in the mirror.
And come to think of it, maybe a mirror in the camera store would help them sell more high end pro-line camera's if the sales person could tell the customer,
"Hey you really look great behind that Canon EOS 1DS Mark III! Just step over to the mirror and look at how good that camera will make you look when you are using it!"
Yes, I have taken a mirror self portrait too! LOL

To Jason's point, just because you specialize in "boring stock images" doesn't mean you can't be successful. Apparently, theres a market for everything.
