hello roanjohn,
I have taken many landscape shots during 2004 but I always liked this one taken October 18, 2004 of the Saint Nicholas River in Kent County, New Brunswick, Canada with a digital rebel

This is probably one of my favorites...scanned film photo, pre-digital.
This gazebo shot was taken in the early morning as the sun was lifting off of this flooded park.

Scottes - Love the refelction!!! Looks like a great day for birding ;-) hence the telephoto lens only (I'm guessing...........)
Marie - Interesting contrast between a foggy background and a colorful, sunny foreground.............NICE!!!
Karina - OOHHH..........dreamy and surreal.............great mood.

All so far are wonderful shots. Out of several thousand shots taken this past year, this MAY be my favorite. It shows an old cabin near Salmon Glacier, located in British Columbia near Hyder, Alaska.

As a newbie in photography I donot have the skills to match the shots posted on this thread. These are absolutely stunning photographs with excellent sharpness. What lenses do you guys use?
Here's my favourite... this was taken in summer of 2004 on my way from Banff to Jasper. Mountain Ranges of the Rockies, Alberta. Taken at around 9:45pm just after the sunset.

I would have to say that this is my favorite that I shot this passed year. I really wish that I would have shot it RAW instead of JPG so I could tweak it a little bit.
Taken in September along the Fairy Falls trail in Yellowstone National Park :

Sparker - SURREAL!!! It looks like a frozen sea.............nice!!
Boomer - Thanks!!! I should've just looked at your profile :-) I was close though...
Mikesd - NICE!!! Love the fog (I need to take some fog pics........must wake up early!!).
Chets - I'm SPEECHLESS!!! stunning shot.............WOW!!
Markus - beautiful clouds......interesting how you framed the photo........with the road in a diagonal.........very unconventional.
RogCincy - Always wanted to go there.........nice shot.........I don't know why you need to tweak it anymore......the exposure is spot on with good colors.......this shot could've been a tweaked RAW shot (nobody would even know if you didn't mention it :-p).
Jmjmotorsport - eerie and desolate.......great tranquil mood.
Damian - our first IR shot............I like it!!!
Where are the others?? There HAS to be more!!

We were in the vicinity of 20,320 foot hi Mt McKinley in Alaska for 3 days in June last year and were extremely fortunate to be able to see it all 3 days. Some people don't get to see it at all even on multiple trips. This photo was taken 62 miles inside Denali National Park...Harvey

Some incredible landscapes here. This one is one of my favourites (not that I've got all that many to choose from http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif ). Not sure why I like either - (maybe I'm just excited by the fact that I got the horizon level for once http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif ).Perhaps its the "isolation" of the building in a "sea" of blue.

OK, now I've done it!
First question, I had to keep downsizing in PS to get below 100KBs and now the photo isn't as large as others, how do I get around that? Is it JPEG quality setting that is limiting the size? Thanks for the help to a posting newbie! Mark B

Resize in PS (Longest side 800 pixels is about right) then open the resize dialogue box again and this time make sure the Resample Image check box is ticked and then change the Resolution to 75 Pixels/Inch this will retain the image size and reduce the file size.
Well thats the way I do it, if anyone has any other ideas I would love to know too.

Thanks Neil_R for your reply! I'm trying this again. The only way I can keep it aroung 100k is to lower the jpeg quality setting to 1 in PS CS. Still is 1000 pixels on longest side and 72 pixels/inch. Hopefully this will be a better size post.
