Today was the last training session before the start of world cup track cycling here in Velodrome, Manchester. I'm covering the entire event till Sunday the 9th, here are some training shots.
Played with Canon 15mm fisheye today, hours of fun!

Nice work. You have given some of the shots a good expression of speed and also they have a good atmospheric style to them.

Thanks Peter, now I feel much more confident as this is my first cycling shot :p
Pete, get your a*** down here quick, you'll love the 15mm!!! :D
Hopefully I'll improve my techniques and be more creative throughout the next 3 days, and I sure will post more shots.
Btw, I have to mention this, there were 6 shooters today, 5 Canon shooters, 1 Nikon D1H shooter. :D Funny thing is, the official photog for British Cycling Org shoots a 1D MK II+24-70mm+70-200mm and Nikon D1H+80-200mm VR ... how odd???

Those are nice shots. It really brings out the atmosphere of velodrome cycling.
That last shot reminds me of the Olympics TV coverage, they would put that sort of shot on to show progress in pursuits.
I actually think the fisheye is actually very useful at that venue. Good job your zoom hadn't turned up yet or you might not have tried it :D
Have a good weekend and post some shots up from the competition.
Cheers

If you can get some shots of the canadian pursuit team, that would rock. I have a few friends there.

sGu,
I was watching some of the cycling today on the TV and was wondering if i could spot you trackside. I think i did too!
Have you been sitting (kinda crossed legged) on the inside of the track ( the green bit ) just into a bend?
I was looking for a guy remotely like ur old avatar.

That's unbelievable! I think i was the only shooter ever sits down cross legged, if the person you saw was near the "British Cycling" sign on the track, then yes, that's me :D shooting a 1D MK II + 70-200mm and 1D + 16-35mm side by side ;)
Oh, I was in a yellow bib :D

Yup the yellow really suits you!! You looked really laid back sat like that :-)
I was a bit jealous being sat here watching the TV wishing it was i sat there getting some decent action for a change. Who was you shooting for?

I was laid back, well, kind had to, it really aches your back when carrying them gears on you walking n shooting for 5-7 hours :(
I was shooting for papers also in a hope of submit images on spec to different websites, magazines and agencies if any.
