I'm planning to buy a new lens and contemplated on having Sigma 55-200mm f/4-5.6 DC Autofocus lens for my 300D. What can you say about this? Your opinions will be highly appreciated. :D

Thanks.

you get what you pay for. this is a cheap cheap lens. no hidden values here.

i wish i could say something nice, but i can't think of anything.

my advice? save your $$$ for the next 6 months, shoot tons of photos with the lens you have now, and learn learn learn about photography. by that time, you should have enough money to get a very good lens, and the skills to appreciate it.

How about Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO Macro Super II?

I have the Sigma 70-300 APO II. A good consumer lense, but with a 4 - 5.6 you will need light. I have used this lens mostly for motorsports. The L lenses are nice, but some of us do not have L money right now. See the forums and you will see several posting about this lense. Good luck.

Don't think cheap when it comes to your zoom. Also if you mess with a Sigma, make sure it has a HSM motor on here.

Do a search on this board with 70-200 and you will see all the zoom posts that come up.
