Searching the net i couldn't find much on these filters and if they were any good, other than they are cheap on Ebay and come from Hong Kong - sounding highly doubtful. So i took a chance and bought the Tian Ya kit for approx. AU$40. It included a holder, an adaptor(of your choice) and 4x 84mmx100mm filters.

Here is the kit on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/Filter-Landscape-set-for-COKIN-P-series-EF-24-105mm_W0QQitemZ160257010801QQcmdZViewItem?hash=ite m160257010801)

It is basically a Cokin P system for half the price of a decent filter. The holder is just plastic and feels cheap but fits well to the adaptor without being to loose(better than the Cokin WA holder). I'm reasonably impressed with the filters/glass as they look good quality with well cut edges and come in their own individual cases. They slide onto the holder(which holds 3 filters) well except for the middle one - quite loose!

This is very comparable to genuine Cokin(P only), especially for $40, you'd be lucky to get the filter and adaptor, let alone filters for that! The optics of the lens seem un-effected as far as i can notice. The only problem i guess is the GND which is only a soft gradual grey(Cokin seems to be the same - not true ND) and the overall cheapness - you may think you need to spend more to get more?

Either way it is a cheap way to start out and get some experience in the world of filters and effects, if your interested in that kind of thing, and you can always add to it with better/different filters.

I recommend it to anyone on a budget!;)

(Just to note: i'm not a sales rep:lol: this is my personal review of the product and have done it in hope it may help someone else)

Pics of the actual kit.. i'll post some samples in a sec.

I'm digging up an old thread, but thanks for the review. I've decided to get this kit too, for about $40 shipped, it at least let's me play with filters and see what affects I actually like. then if the quality is lacking, I'll cough up for only the filters I actually want.

Thanks again for the write up.

What's the quality of materials on the fotodiox? Where did you get it from?

"Organic Glass"? Sounds like somebody's translator-bot choked. Glass is inorganic, being primarily silicon dioxide (same stuff as quartz). It probably should translate as "plastic" for accuracy.

I am traveling to China this spring. There are generally no camera or lens bargains there but, there are said to be lots of bargains in camera accessories. I found a shop in Beijing that sells these filters. Since Beijing is the first stop of my tour, I might just purchase a set to play wit on the rest of my trip.

I just bought the GND ($10) and filter holder ($4) from maxsaver.... for sh$ts and giggles. I also bought the LSVHI GND ($10).

I'm off on a 3-week assignment, but I'll give'm a try when I return.

BTW, would love to see the results of GND alone if anyone can post some. Interested in seeing if Tian Ya produces a magenta color cast like the actual Cokin filters. If not, they may be BETTER.

I'm also wondering if the GNDs are actually neutral. Even if they're not, I think they're pretty nice value. :D

Participating in an old thread, better late than never.

I've just bought the Tian-Ya set of 4 filters, 1 adapter and 5 rings of different sizes for various lens diameters - whole package for $ 100. No complaint about the price.

Question is - are these made of glass??? To me they seem plastic.

Most rectangular filters, unless explicitly labeled otherwise, are plastic.
