Geez, guys, it doesn't have to rhyme!
How about August @ 3200 (ISO 3200)?
I've been playing with high ISO on my 30D - try it! This is all about experimenting, right?

I don't think the XTi can do ISO 3200. :(

Right. Funny, I could do it on my hacked 300D but the XT and XTi can't.
How about saying "highest ISO". That should cover everyone and not let the mk3 guys stomp all over us. :D

Highest ISO would be too limiting. What if you are shooting in bright sunlight? Or if you need a slow shutter speed for panning or water movement. The idea is to encourage shooting, not discourage shooting.

Well, my idea was to get people to try high ISO. Obviously you can't use it sometimes. I don't see that as a problem.

Back to the JPEGs. Always a dicey proposition shooting a dark subject against a darker background, but things worked out just super.

July's nearly over. Here's a couple of test shots I got with The Hoff's 200mm. What an absolutely fantastic lens. I can see why he's addicted to primes...

Two more. I sure hope the rain holds off so I can get some fireworks tonight. I have little to no interest in standing in the rain :(

Thank you Gail. I used Hoff's 200mm for this one too. I'm telling you I think he's got me hooked on the prime lenses. The IQ is just unbeatable.

So what do you have to sell in order to get one Chris;)

Absolutely nothing. My birthday is next month :)
I'm so torn as to what to get though. As much fun as I've had with the 200mm it's not really conducive to me photographing cityscapes and landscapes. What it has done is shown me the quality that I'm missing out on. I'm looking at either the 14mm or the 24mm T/S right now. We'll see what I finally decide upon in a month :)
Edit: Getting ahead of myself... b-day in 6 weeks :p

I don't
I never go to Gastown. It's like some invisible barrier stops me from going there :)
Now that you've asked for one though, I'll go and shoot it soon. Be patient because we're slated for four days of rain :( I won't forget though.

Really nice shot, though I think I'd crop the top off (to get rid of the person with their beach towel, and clone out the head sticking out the water.

You already know what August will bring, it's in your signature, stop the hate'n and turn the dial the other direction.

I am waiting to hear more options... in the other direction :D like:
"All Manual August"
"Av August"
"F22 August"
"Handheld August"
"Pinhole August"
"Long Exposure August"
...
They just don't have a nice ring to them :(

Maybe well keep it simple.
"A picture a day in August." We can post our thumbnail collage at the end of the month.

Yikes... that is actually a good one.... that would probably stretch me. so does this picture have to be taken on that day? or just processed/posted then?

No like a photo journal of something about each day. Just set your tripod next to your new computer and click the shutter once each day, I'm sure that's where you'll be anyhow.

Full automatic - no control over any settings, and no RAW option. I see no advantage of it, over P, which is also fully automatic, but lets you change the settings.
