some work from a tournament I shot this past weekend. Starting to play around a bit with black and white shots (gallery is mix of a few black and white shots, mostly color though). and I figured I would share some of them with you guys. I think the selective color on the lens is a little cliche, it can work well on a few photos but not all. I like everything else though, good job.

I agree.

I think these 3 out of 487 pictures were the only ones I did it on.

On my NEPL pictures, 3 out of 250 were processed like that too. I'm starting to do more pictures (though not a very high percentage) in black and white. The look is just starting to grow on me. In some cases, I think the emotion and expression are more defined such as in pictures 1 and 2 here.

Selective color is almost always cliche, I've seen one decent photo with selective coloring in the past year that worked well.

You really need to tighten up your shots, lots of dead space that adds absolutely nothing to the photos, also lots of boring shots, terribly composed, chopping off barrels, halves of heads, etc.

Work your composition, and you won't need PP gimmicks to make your photos pop.

I think the selective color only works on the last one, and it actually makes it like a Halo game picture. I like it.
