Hello,

I'm a new guy here. I just bought a G6 and am fooling around with it. Got a lot of learnig to do. Was into photograpy thirty years ago and want to try it again in the digital era.

Made this picture while trying things out. It didn't do very much in color, so I took it through Photoshop: crop>grayscale>RGB>curves> and burnt some on the bottom.

Although I'm rather busy I hope to post here with regularity

Excuse my English, it's not my mother language (=Dutch)

Thank you

Markus

Welcome to the Forum,

What were your settings for this shot? The reason I ask is that the wood of the Capstan seems a little soft (slightly out of focus). Whilst there is something about the image that I like, I also feel that a landscape format and a lower angle of view might have suited the image better. If you go back to take the shot again I would consider, perhaps including a little of the horizon into the shot and shooting in landscape.

I like it, its a good effort in a black & white capture, which are not the easiest to shoot correctly. Stay at it....Mackroe

Not bad, but I think you need a better black and white workflow. There are a few this book (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0735714118/qid=1104898472/sr=8-1/ref=pd_csp_1/102-2432264-6194560?v=glance&s=books&n=507846) that'd do the job.
