I love how blackhawk13 says if they don't turn it in they can be charged with posession of stolen property. Excuse me, it was found property that someone lost...how was this stolen?

I am not registered there but read their forums from time to time and if it were me I would do a photo inventory of all items I found along with serial numbers and report my finding of these items to the Park Rangers. If they said for me to bring it in I would take my copies of the photo inventory and serial numbers with me and whoever was in charge and took the property from my possession would sign the inventory for it to ensure no funny business happened before it was returned to it's rightful owner. And also request contact info for the person that had received it from the park, not for any reward but just to verify they were returned everything I found and entrusted the park employees with.
Like another poster there said, I trust my own trustworthiness than that of a stranger. I don't care if they are a Nat'l park employee.

How many horror stories are there out there about "federal" airport security types fleecing the public? We're talking about approximately 10k in camera gear here! Stuff with that type of price tag can make your average Joe/Janes eyes bulge out with $$$$ signs! If you have access to the dpreview board I would appreciate, and the owner who may get something "lifted" by a light fingered hourly employee appreciate, posting these simple safety steps for all parties involved?
Thanks!
Sometimes the Good Samaritan can be the one blamed by the middle man when something goes missing in transactions like this!
