Hey All,

Its been a while since I have made a trip to the forums, but its good to be back seeing hundreds of great photogs stuff. Now, as I have graduated from my photojournalism program, and am working in the industry, I have a little say in what I want to write and such. I am working at the Airdrie Echo, a southern Alberta weekly, right next to one of the economic centers of Canada, Calgary. I started writing for the Echo a few years back, four to be exact, and when I started I was writing motorsports articles. So, with the editor telling us to write and run whatever we want, I want to get back talking about motorsports. Now, here is the fun part for everyone here. I know a lot of you who are pro's, get your press passes and shoot all sorts of events, (will be getting my Calgary Stampede pass today) and I also know a lot of you dont have 'formal' training, but seem to be able to get to the special places, just due to a lens. Either way there are a lot of great photogs on POTN, and I have a few requests.

I want this to be an ongoing thread, as I plan on writing more than two motorsport stories, and running more than two photo, so I will always be changing the requests.
*********************
Here are the current requests:

National Hot Rod Association (NHRA): Scott Kalitta (head and shoulders, car action, burnout, launch, race pan, whatever) This is for a story concerning his passing, and the changes that the NHRA have made this far, in trying to increase the safety of the sport.

Indy Racing League (IRL): Danica Patrick (head and shoulders, car action) Helio Castroneves (head and shoulders, car action) Justin Wilson (car action) Graham Rahal (car action) Marco Andretti (car action, head and shoulders).

*********************

Now, for the part nine out of every ten photographers wont be happy about. We cannot pay a penny, as the freelance budget is almost non-existant. But WHAT I CAN OFFER is the pdf file of the page the photo appears on, sent directly to the person who's photo runs. My deadline is Monday evening, so thats a deadline for each weeks submission. We will credit you, and your website if you have one, and we publish on Wednesdays. The requests will stand until either there filled, or the storys become too untimely.

This is a great opportunity to have something published, and see the results of it immediately.

What I would want, is posts in the thread of pictures you are submitting, then upon deadline day, I will ask for the original file, for quality, or a high resolution edited file by the photog, but we need crop space for paper fitting.

A little about the paper: Airdrie Echo (http://www.airdrieecho.com)
Our circulation is 14000, with a readership of about 40000. We go to press Tuesday night, for distribution Wednesdays.

I hope that someone can help me out.

Sounds like a really dandy opportunity. One of the 998,000 daily offers to work for nothing. I'm sure you'll be overwhelmed with response.

I agree with Pinto ... what a great opportunity ...
How about you give me the number of your advertising manager ... I'll call and ask if I can take out a full page advert for my business . it will be agreat opportunity for the Aidre Echo ....but here is the thing 9 out of ten ad managers hate ... i can't pay you a penny but I'll credit you.
