One from today -I'm working on composition:

(click thumbnail to go to Flickr page for full size version)
Taken with: Canon 30D, Canon 100mm f/2.8, Canon MR-14EX ringflash)

...I'm not sure I like the reflection of my flash in his eyes. This was also in the shade, so his backside is a bit dark, but the -1/3 FEC rather than the -1 to -2 worked well. I also used the settings that macro junkie suggested. Many came out a bit dark, but nothing RAW couldn't save. Still, I'm not sure that I'll stick with Manual Mode -I think I like Shutter Speed Priority better, but I'll keep playing with both.

There's another one of a bottle fly in my photostream on Flickr -the eye is impressively sharp, but I think overall the photo's a bit busy and I think I could have done better with the flash :-\.

Anyway, I still have plenty to work on, but critique is appreciated as is a positive ID. I tried looking it up and came up with maybe a Zebra Jumping Spider?

Attached is a quick shot I took in order to help id him.

Your help is appreciated!

look like a zebra jumper to me. like the first shot better too. comp looks good to me and the flash isn't that bad in his eyes.
