View Full Version : I walk the Line...

I was going through some old archives and found this one scrap photo that never made it (the play happened just 10-15 yards from me, and while everyone had switched to their third body with UWA lens, I was stuck with the 70-200 as my widest. So needless to say, the composition sucked, horizon was off, and we were already moving sideways in case these two kept running towards our direct location.
Anyhow, I looked at it this morning, and after rotating and cropping a bit, it showed a little promise. Still gotta do a decent pp job (see top left) but I wanted to post it, mostly to share, but also to see if you think it's a keeper. (I am deleting most of scrap photos, just leaving those who make sound photography sense).
Can't wait for this upcoming season. Should be fun.
:) thanks for visiting.

If only you could see the ball more clearly. I think you got the moment even with the "wrong" lens but it took too long for me to figure out what was going on with the play without the ball clearly in the frame. (I see now that it looks like a touchdown on the Bucs). Also the crop is a bit odd, but I see what you were doing with it.
Anyway, good shot.. could've been great if the ball was extended below the receiver as he caught it.

Thanks Hoff. Absolutely spot on with regards to the technical aspect of the photo. This is why the photo never made it any further.
For some reason though, this morning I saw the careful balance in the side line, the ref right there looking at the play, and the players trying to stay on one side of that line, manly football player pulling a seemingly ice skating maneuver.
I do have several other photos that outrank it, so this one will probably not make the cut.
Thanks so far.

Hmm...tough call. The reason I would say to not keep it is that the ball, while present (I think), is not at all prominent and of course the face is not visible. I think the frame a couple before, if a little wider, would have been nice. However, as for this one there is nothing screaming to me "KEEP", just an interesting moment. Unless this was a game-changing moment I wouldn't keep it around. Just my 2 cents.

Good point, mate. This will be a goner, you provided the extra bit of insight to fully help me decide. Thanks. :)

"After further review...the play is inconclusive! The play stands as it was called!"
What happened to the left foot? In or out? Clearly a 49er WR catching a touchdown? over a Buc DB - hence #28.
If it was the game winner - it'd be a keeper! If one of four TD's...enh!

You got the actual play to the letter. I do not remember the particulars of the TD, I do know that probably it was not a key moment from the game either (As you mentioned, the defining TD, or the last one, etc). So I am going to go with 'Ehh'...
Thanks for your input.
